Something Thinks Extinction Sucks!
Something will support the fight for endangered animals with a commitment to “Extinction Sucks”,
a new project looking at the conservation of endangered species and their environments.
Extinction Sucks is an initiative of United Nations
Of Australia Wildlife Advocate, Aleisha Caruso.
With a shared compassion for animals, Caruso and Something designer, Natalie Wood have joined forces to help protect endangered animals from extinction.
Each Season, Natalie Wood will commission an artist to design a t-shirt print, which will be dedicated to
an endangered animal and made available as a part
of the Something range. All revenue from the tees will be channelled straight back to the animals via Aleisha and Extinction Sucks.
Natalie credits her great love of animals as well as an intense respect for the work of Caruso as her motivation for getting involved in such a way.
“I reference nature a lot in my work and it is always such a big inspiration for me. I know I have a lot to give back in return for that”, says Wood.
“I felt that this was an opportunity to support Aleishas cause, to use mycreative skills to in some small way maybe contribute to savin even just one splendid animal somewhere in the world.”

Aleisha Caruso has never given birth but has had
a hand in raising many infants, as a surrogate mother to baby Gorillas, Orangutans, Chimpanzees and Panda Bears. Raising orphaned animals, conservation awareness and funds for wildlife rescue and rehabilitation sanctuaries is all in a days work for Aleisha as she works to help safeguard endangered species from extinction.
Aleisha is the Wildlife Advocate for The United Nations Association of Western Australia (UNAA-WA), the Australian Board Member of Pandas International USA and the Founder of the ‘One Last Chance’ Foundation, a non profit organisation, dedicated to promoting awareness about wildlife conservation to help safeguard endangered species from extinction.
Some of Aleisha's most recent conservation assignments include:
• Assisting with the rehabilitation and release of an Andean Bear back into the wild in South America, which was being kept as an illegal pet.
• Delivering urgently needed medical equipment to the Wolong Panda Research and Breeding Sanctuary in Chengdu, China. This was to assist in the survival of seventeen baby Panda cubs in the successful “Panda Cub Swapping Technique” which has boosted the fragile Panda population in the Sichuan Province.
• Patrolling the Borneo jungle with an Anti Poaching Unit to protect the remaining 35 Sumatran Rhinos from poachers in The Tabin Reserve.
• Tracking Sumatran Rhino footprints with a RPU (Rhino Protection Unit) in Tabin Reserve, Borneo
to determine population density demographics and distribution of the Sumatran Rhino to enable the implementation of conservation strategies for this sub-species.

Due to human impacts such as Habitat Destruction, Poaching, Climate Change, Pollution and the
Illegal Wildlife Trade, (where $7 Billion USD worth of animal products are sold each year on the black market), 1 entire species of plant or animal is lost every 20 minutes, or 3 entire species disappear each hour. Sadly, as many animals struggle to stay alive, many now depend on human intervention for their survival.
Aleisha has just finished filming a 6 part Wildlife Documentary TV Series called “Extinction Sucks”
to help bridge the gap between humans and animals by giving a Face to the facts and a Voice to the voiceless.
Instead of preaching doom-mongering statistics, Aleisha has a very different approach to conservation. To her conservation isn’t about suits and summits. It’s about taking charge and taking action – and having loads of fun along the way... as she works to help keep the animals that she loves alive and protected in the wild.
The upcoming "Extinction Sucks" Wildlife Missions carry the message that anyone and everyone can do their little bit to help and profiles the following endangered animals, the Indian Rhino in Nepal, Sea Turtle in Australia, Sun Bear in Vietnam, Asian Elephant in India, Tasmanian Devil in Tasmania and the Hectors Dolphin in New Zealand.
